American Express + DEPARTURES – the mystery of the Japanese mystery –

DEPARTURES is a magazine published exclusively for American Express Platinum Card members.
Their October 2016 issue was The Japan Issue, where all the assigned illustrators were Japanese.

I have illustrated acclaimed author Hanya Yanagihara‘s The Mystery of the Japanese Mystery where she gives deep analysis to Japanese culture through a short fun essay about the genre of Japanese mystery novels. You can read the whole article here.
